How to download your Tinder data (and messages), step-by-step
Request your Tinder data export in a couple of minutes: what to click, how long it takes, what's inside (your messages included) and what to do with it.
Updated October 25, 2026
Tinder will send you a copy of your data: your profile, your photos, your matches and the messages you sent. You ask for it on Tinder's account website, and Tinder emails you a download link a few days later.
Before you start
- Use a web browser, on your phone or computer. The request page is on Tinder's website.
- Know how you sign in to Tinder (phone number, Google, Apple or Facebook). You'll sign in the same way.
- Watch your email. The download link only works for 24 hours after Tinder sends it.
How to request your Tinder data
- Go to account.gotinder.com/data in your browser.
- Sign in the same way you sign in to the Tinder app.
- Check that your email address is right.
- Submit the request.
Tinder says the email arrives within a few days. Many people get it in a day or two.
When the email arrives
- Open the email from Tinder and tap the download link within 24 hours. If it expires, just ask again.
- Save the .zip file and open it. Inside you'll find:
- data.json: your profile, your matches and your messages
- your photos
- an index.html file you can open in a browser to read it all

What's in it, and what isn't
Your download has the messages you sent to each match, with dates and times. It doesn't include the messages your matches sent back. Those are part of their data, not yours.
So if you want your whole first conversation, you both need your own downloads. Together they have every message, in order.
Common questions
How long does Tinder take to send my data?
Tinder says within a few days, and often it's a day or two. The link expires 24 hours after the email is sent, so download it soon. If you miss it, request it again.
Does my Tinder data include my messages?
Yes, the messages you sent, with dates and times. The other person's replies aren't included, so you need their download too to see the whole conversation.
Can I read my Tinder data without any special software?
Yes. Open the index.html file from your download in any browser. The data.json file has the same information in a raw form.
…and here’s what you can make with it
That file is where your story starts: the first opener, the banter, the moment one of you said "we should meet". Our Matchbook turns it into a keepsake.
- Upload your Tinder data and pick the match. We rebuild your conversation, with both profiles and your photos.
- Invite your partner to add their side, so both halves of the conversation are back together.
- Share it with a private, password-protected link, schedule it as a surprise for your anniversary or Valentine's Day, or print it.
Start free with a Spark. The letter, a video, voice notes, every style and scheduled surprises come with a Matchbook. Either way, your original files are deleted as soon as your conversation is in.
