Met without a dating app

No dating app? Keep how it started anyway.

Maybe it started with a text the morning after a party, a DM, or a number on a napkin. Maybe the best part was your first couple of dates. A Matchbook doesn't need a dating app: write in your first text messages with the day and time each was sent, then keep your first dates as memories.

A Matchbook share card: two names, the match date and their first messages

How it works

  1. 1

    Get a Matchbook

Building one by hand is included with a Matchbook. Pick the style that looks like where you talked: text messages, DMs or a group chat.

  2. 2

    Write in your first messages

Add them one at a time, as either of you, each with the day and time it was sent. Copy them from your phone or write them the way you remember them. GIFs and reactions too.

  3. 3

    Add your first dates

Each date becomes a memory: a photo, the place on a map, a voice note or a few words about what happened. Then write a letter and share it privately or print a QR card.

Planning a surprise? Build it on your own, then have it delivered on the day you pick.

Questions

Can I import our text messages?
Not yet. Our Matchbook imports Hinge and Tinder data; anything else you write in by hand, starting with the messages that matter most.
Do we need to have met on a dating app?
No. A Matchbook built by hand works the same way: your messages in the chat style you choose, your memories, a letter and a video.
Is building it by hand free?
Writing messages by hand is included with a Matchbook. The free Spark is for keeping a Hinge or Tinder conversation you import.
Is it private?
Yes. Your Matchbook is protected by a password, and only the people you share it with can open it.
