How to download your Match.com data, step-by-step
Match sends a copy of your data when you ask through its help center. How to request it, what's included (and what isn't) and what to do with it.
Updated October 25, 2026
Match.com will send you a copy of the personal data it holds about you. There's no download button: you ask through Match's help center, Match confirms it's really you, and then it sends you a link.
Before you start
- Sign in to Match first. Asking while you're signed in helps Match confirm the request is yours.
- Your account should still be open. If you closed it, some of your data may already have been deleted.
- Be ready to confirm who you are. Match checks your identity before it sends anything.
How to request your Match data
- Sign in to Match.com.
- Go to the Match help center (help.match.com) and open the contact form.
- Choose the privacy option for accessing your personal data (a copy of your data).
- Send the request, then follow Match's steps to confirm your identity.
Once your identity is confirmed, Match sends you a link to your data.
When your data arrives
Open the link from Match and download your data straight away. Keep it somewhere private: it has your profile and your messages in it.
Nothing yet? Check your spam and promotions folders, and search your inbox for "Match".
What's in it, and what isn't
Your copy is your own data, including the messages you sent. Match says some information can't be released under privacy law, including messages other members sent you. So your copy has your side of each conversation, and your partner's copy has theirs.
Common questions
Does my Match data include my messages?
The ones you sent. Messages other members sent you aren't included, so your partner would need to request their own data for their side.
Can I get my data if I closed my Match account?
Maybe not all of it. Match says data from closed accounts may already have been deleted or anonymized.
Why does Match ask me to prove who I am?
To make sure nobody else can get your data. Asking while you're signed in to your account makes this quicker.
…and here’s what you can make with it
Met on Match? That first message deserves better than a forgotten inbox. Our Matchbook turns your story into a keepsake: both of you, your first conversation and everything since, in one private book.
We don't read Match's files directly yet, so a Match love story is built by hand, and it only takes a few minutes:
- Add the two of you and the day you matched.
- Type in your first messages (or the ones that mattered), copying them from your data or your screenshots.
- Add your photos and your memories: the first date spot on a map, a song, a voice note.
- Share it with a private, password-protected link, schedule it as a surprise for your anniversary or Valentine's Day, or print it.
Start free with a Spark. Writing your own prompts, voice notes, every style and scheduled surprises come with a Matchbook.
