How to download your Hinge data (and messages), step-by-step
Get a copy of your Hinge profile, prompts, photos and messages in a few taps. What's in the download, how long it takes, and what to do with it.
Updated October 25, 2026
Hinge lets you download everything it has on you: your profile, your prompts, your photos and the messages you sent to every match. It takes about a minute to ask for, and Hinge emails you a link when it's ready.
Before you start
- Use the app. The download is requested from the Hinge app, not the website.
- Your account has to be open. If you've already deleted Hinge, see "If you closed your account" below.
- Watch your email. The download link only works for 48 hours after Hinge sends it.
How to request your Hinge data
- Open Hinge and tap your photo icon, at the far right of the bottom bar.
- Tap Account Settings (in some versions it's just Settings).
- Tap Download My Data.
- Choose your country.
- Tap Download My Data again.
- Check that your email address is right, then tap Submit.
That's it. Hinge says exports can take up to 30 days, but they usually arrive much sooner, often within a day or two.
When the email arrives
- Open the email from Hinge and tap the download link. Do this within 48 hours, before it expires.
- Save the file somewhere you'll find it, like your Downloads folder or Files on your phone.
- If it's a .zip file, open it. Inside are a few files:
- user.json: your profile (name, age, job, the details you chose to show)
- prompts.json: your prompts and answers
- media.json and your photos
- matches.json: your matches and your messages with each one
Didn't get it? Check your spam and promotions folders, and search your inbox for "Hinge".
What's in it, and what isn't
Your download has the messages you sent, with the date and time of each one. It doesn't include the messages your matches sent you, because those belong to them. Hinge leaves out other members' personal information.
So if you want your whole first conversation back, both of you need to download your own data. Put the two together and you have every message, in order.
If you closed your account
The Download My Data button only works on an open account. If you've closed yours, Hinge asks you to contact them through their help center (choose a Privacy Request). Some of your data may already be gone, depending on how long ago you closed it.
Common questions
How long does it take to get my Hinge data?
Hinge says up to 30 days, but most downloads arrive within a day or two. The link in the email works for 48 hours, so download it soon after it comes.
Does my Hinge download include my messages?
Yes, the messages you sent, with dates and times. The messages your matches sent you aren't included, so to see a whole conversation you need both people's downloads.
Is downloading my data safe?
Yes. The request comes from inside your own account and the link goes to your own email. Keep the file private: it has your messages and photos in it.
…and here’s what you can make with it
That download is the whole beginning of your story: the prompt that caught their eye, the first line, the "so when are we getting that drink?". Our Matchbook turns it into a keepsake.
- Upload your Hinge files and pick the match. We rebuild the conversation the way you remember it, with both profiles side by side, your prompts and your photos.
- Invite your partner to add their side, so every message from both of you is back, in order.
- Share it as a private, password-protected link, schedule it as a surprise for an anniversary or Valentine's Day, or print it.
Start free with a Spark. The letter, a video, voice notes, every style and scheduled surprises come with a Matchbook. Either way, your original files are deleted as soon as your conversation is in.
